State of the RBE at the start of 2025

Disclaimer:
Given most of the main actors involved in the RBE scene are either functionally dead, and the main one is now moving outside of Jacque Fresco's ideas towards general Marxist ones, i will probably continue doing this stuff for a year, or 2, and leave it to die.

The Venus Project


Their X still has that Netflix request form from 4 years ago.

Get rid of it, guys, it's already embarrassing.

In other news, Jacque Fresco's ideas are still abandoned, and placed in their Jacque Fresco Foundation website, which is the same WIP stage it's been for the past 4(!) years.

Their social media presence is now moving to permaculture related stuff, in preparation to the Venus Evolution post-apocalyptic city crowdfunding, and occasionally posts where they seem to have imitated JFEN's style of taking a random JF-related picture, and filling it with hashtags, as well as making social media accounts for Jacque Fresco(tied to the above mentioned Foundation), to try to poorly compete with the Educational Network.

Of course, every other problem that DTF, JFEN, and others mentioned last year ( https://rebuking-rbe-myths.blogspot.com/2024/05/state-of-rbe-at-start-of-2024.html ) is still there, and the Discord DAO vaporware disappeared, as well.

In the 4-5 years I've followed this project, they have never finished any project that's not self-promotion, or taking people's money.

 

The Zeitgeist Movement


After cancelling their ZDay, a dead coty reduced to a Discord server, and a forum, where in both cases, most of the activity is automatic updates from other websites.

Also, one of their TZM USA members has developed a personal Youtube channel and Patreon called World Beyond Capitalism, and has drifted toward mainstream left-wing anti-capitalism.

Moneyless Society

This is an interesting development.

Remember how i said last they were spamming random generic anti-capitalist stuff?

Well, apparently, the previous decade of trying to find the best transition in a rational manner gives you way less exposure than spamming communist memes, which has given them the most likes and reach by far in the RBE scene.

This popularity has made them coordinators of other movements, like General Strike US.

Even TVP came to them, to showcase their (vague and scammy)future plans through them.

As for Moneyless Society itself, while they still mention the term resource-based economy a bit, their ideological orientation is now generic Marxist far-left, with an emphasis on mutualism.

 

Designing the Future

Started strong, but ended up realizing just how damage TVP did to anyone promoting Jacque Fresco, so have slowly slipped into dormancy, with the last website post being 4 months ago, though their social media is still active.

Fortunately, as i said, they were basically carrying TVP on their backs, so their break-up, and their subsequent dissolution, should be a further death blow to Jacque Fresco's legacy.

 

The Choice is Ours

Half a year ago, they said they found a screenwriter to make the script.

We will see what happens.

On the plus side, they will probably be transparent about it, unlike the grifters in Venus.

On the down side, given the very low level of engagement DTF will have, i very much doubt they will have money to actually make a movie.

Travis appeared in a couple places, and generally doing his thing.

Copiosis

Couple of posts saying Copiosis is happening on it's own, while still being pretty conspiratorial.

Koto Coop

The guys behind it have made it a part-time intentional community, but nothing exceptional to report on.

Nothing new since 2022(outside Transport, but might be just a final dying burst of energy). Will stop following their activity(outside of Transport, which i will keep an eye on, for a bit more).

Conclusion

I now firmly believe the RBE scene has exhausted all of it's creative juices, and will now be subsumed via Moneyless Society into the broader Marxist anti-capitalist scene, in which case the broader(and equally valid) criticism against communism will apply.

Will chronicle this a bit more, but it is drawing to a close.

Usually, i post these things at the start of the year, but Jesus Christ, the craziest telenovela i've ever seen has happened in the RBE(or OAE, or whatever they call it nowadays) scene during this time, and i kept postponing to see what will happen. Things seem to have stabilized, so get ready for the weirdest mess you'll read today.   Let's start with: The Venus Project I won't bring up that report, because even they gave that up, and  the post trying to get people to request the movies added to Netflix is still there , like in previous years. But the main story is that The Venus Project abandoned the teachings of Jacque Fresco. No, i'm not joking.  After the previous years of low activity, apparently they have been silently scrubbing their website of everything related to that guy, and placing it in an eternally under construction website of an entity called the  Jacque Fresco Foundation (frescofoundation.org) . All of this to make way so they can become an insane...

Let's see what our favourite band of technocratic communists have been up to.   The Venus Project Let's start with TVP, and last year's progress report. -" Dissemination of findings and a proposed alternative to our current socioeconomic paradigm" Nothing new.  The closest thing they have is an obscure tweet in which they want to push their documentaries onto Netflix.   "-A movie progress report from 2018, that kind of died in the water back then(they still raised tens of thousands of bucks for making the movie);"   Nothing on the horizon about that;   "-The Center for Resource Management project, who's progress has stalled 2 years ago;"   Literally the graph is the same it's been since then;   "-The  Transcription Project, which raised tens of thousands of dollars, and is at the same 37% it was in the spring of 2020;"   Graph still shows 37% .
